The Prattville Pride group out of the River Region has been especially active since the now-statewide controversy surrounding sexually explicit and LGBTQ+-affirming library books started in the city.

Now, it’s slated to walk in the city’s famed Christmas parade on a float that it promises will be “the gayest and merriest ever.”

Prattville Pride was also responsible for hosting the city’s first-ever pride event in June, which it touted as being “kid-friendly.”

Prattville’s Christmas parade is a source of pride for the city, drawing viewers and participants from across the state. So much so that there is currently a waitlist for those wishing to have a float in the parade since all spots for this year have already been filled since September.

The parade, scheduled for December 6, will feature a long procession of participants through the city’s downtown district.

While Prattville Pride seemingly secured an early spot for its “very first *Pride Christmas Parade Float,” until recently, it was seeking volunteers to help construct the float and participate in the parade.
