President Donald Trump met with European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on Monday after holding a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin the previous week.

Following the meetings, Russia and Ukraine may be closer to a peace deal, which Republican members of Alabama's federal delegation lauded on social media.

Alabama's two U.S. Senators reacted to the negotiations, calling Trump the "President of peace."

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) wrote on X, "President Trump is the President of Peace and the Dealmaker in Chief. History needs his strong leadership on the world stage in this pivotal moment."

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) echoed Britt's remarks.

"Thank goodness we got President Trump that's speaking for us," he told Fox Business Network. "He's a leader… Putin respects President Trump, and that's the key card to play in this game… This is right up his [Trump's] alley, Larry. He loves to negotiate. He's a peacemaker. I mean, he's already stopped, what, five, six, seven wars that have been fighting all over the world the last 10, 15 years."

U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks) wrote in a statement, "President Trump knows that peace through strength works. That’s why I fully support his push for robust security guarantees for Ukraine. These guarantees are essential to deter a third Russian invasion and ensure any peace agreement is enduring. While our European allies must step up to finalize the coalition of the willing, American leadership is indispensable. The U.S. must lead with air defenses, intelligence sharing, air support, training for Ukrainian forces, and other critical enablers. Only with strong, sustained U.S. involvement can we send an unmistakable message to Putin: future aggression against Ukraine will face overwhelming consequences."

U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise), a candidate for U.S. Senate, wrote on X, "President Trump is doing more for peace across the globe in his first few months than prior administrations did throughout their whole term!"
