Despite their conflicting college team loyalties, U.S. Sens. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) and Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) applauded Auburn University head basketball coach Bruce Pearl after he commended Trump's efforts in the Middle East.

Pearl has been a vocal supporter of Israel since the nation was attacked on Oct. 7, 2023, when Hamas terrorists killed and kidnapped hundreds of Israelis.

Since then, Alabama's state and federal leaders have expressed unequivocal support for Israel in its continued fight against Hamas and its supporters.

Over the weekend, Pearl began his post-game victory press conference to call for the release of Hamas-held hostages, namely, Israeli-American soldier Edan Alexander, who is believed to be still alive.

Pearl later credited President Donald Trump's administration for its posture and policies towards Israel and Hamas.

The clip of Pearl's impassioned plea went viral, swiftly grabbing the attention of Britt and Tuberville. While the divided alliances of NCAA collegiate sports are deep in Alabama, that didn't stop Britt from praising her alma mater's chief rival for its basketball coach's stance.

Tuberville likewise applauded Pearl's stance, highlighting the perceived efforts of the Trump administration in Israeli foreign policy.
