Friday, U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) appeared on NewsNation's "Dan Abrams Live" to defend Republican calls for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas' impeachment.

Moore told Abrams he did not see a path for a compromise on border security to extend Title 42 in exchange for amnesty for 2 million DREAMERs.

He argued it would send the wrong message, especially as Mexican drug cartels increase their influence at the U.S.-Mexico border.

"The thing we need to do – when you say we need to do something," he said. "We need to secure the U.S. southern border, number one. Number two, we need to reform immigration but giving amnesty to people we don't know who they are — and down the road, if you see the fentanyl that's pouring across the border, the money that is going back into the cartels' pockets – actually, the Biden administration is the best business partner the Mexican drug cartel has right now. And so, to say we're just going to give amnesty to 2 million, what signal does that send south of the border for people to rest the U.S. border?"

"We're already having trouble. We start talking about repealing Title 42, the 'remain in Mexico policy,'" Moore continued. "These messages get out across the Americas and across the country south of us and people pour in here. So we're sending the wrong message that we don't secure the border. We can reform immigration. I agree it shouldn't take 10 years or $15,000, but we had 1,000 people cross last night in El Paso. That's the largest caravan we've ever seen. This is an invasion, my friend, and we got shut down."

"So, no to the compromise," he added. "We've got to reform immigration and go from there.”
