U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) is expected to officially announce a run for governor next week.
According to Punchbowl News, Tuberville told allies in D.C. and Alabama that he will announce the run during Congress’ Memorial Day recess.
Lieutenant Gov. Will Ainsworth said on Wednesday he wasn’t going to run for governor in the 2026 elections.
If Tuberville were to run for governor instead of re-election to the Senate, it would likely set off a chain of announcements from candidates seeking the open Senate seat.
