Some candidates in Congressional Districts 1 and 2 reacted Tuesday evening after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Alabama could use a 2023 congressional map.
In CD-1, former U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl posted on X, "With this decisive ruling from the SCOTUS, Alabama can now move forward with congressional districts that better reflect the Republican values, and interests of its citizens. I look forward to running in the First Congressional District and earning the opportunity to represent the people of South Alabama.
"Throughout my career, I have stood up to the radical left and fought for the conservative principles that make Alabama strong," Carl continued. "I will work alongside President Trump and Republicans to advance the America First agenda, strengthen our economy, create good-paying jobs, support our military and veterans, our farmers and ensure Alabama remains a place where families and businesses can thrive. With this decisive ruling from the SCOTUS, Alabama can now move forward with congressional districts that better reflect the Republican values and interests of its citizens."

State Rep. Rhett Marques (R-Enterprise) said, "The Supreme Court's common sense decision is a great win for hardworking Alabama families and represents Alabama's values. Green Beret veteran Joshua McKee stated, "Today's Supreme Court decision reaffirms the principle that power belongs to the people and the rule of law. By allowing Alabama's legally enacted congressional map to remain in place, the Court respected the rights of our state and the voice of its citizens. I remain committed to serving the people of Alabama and look forward to continuing my campaign for the Republican nomination in Alabama's Second Congressional District."

Two-time Trump appointee David Matthews posted, "The United States Supreme Court has cleared the way for Alabama to move forward under the congressional map drawn by Alabama's elected representatives. This is a major victory for Alabama, for fair representation, and for the voters who deserve certainty heading into the August 11 special primary.
"Thank you to the Justices of the Supreme Court who recognized the importance of allowing Alabama to conduct its elections under Alabama's own map," Matthews continued. "Thank you also to Governor Kay Ivey, Attorney General Steve Marshall, Secretary of State Wes Allen, the Alabama Legislature, and everyone across our state who fought to protect Alabama's voice in this process.
"Our campaign is ready," he added. "Alabama's Second District deserves strong conservative leadership, real accountability, and a representative who understands our communities, our values, and our way of life."
The special primary election is on August 11.
