Madison County District Attorney Rob Broussard has endorsed Republican candidate for attorney general Katherine Robertson in an upcoming GOP runoff against former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell.

Broussard, a veteran prosecutor with decades of legal experience, assured Robertson's "full commitment" to the office if elected.

"Over my years as District Attorney for Madison County, I’ve worked alongside three different attorneys general, and one thing has become very clear to me — some people seek the office because they are committed to the mission and willing to take on the difficult work the job demands, while others see it merely as a stepping stone to the next position," Broussard said.

"There is no question in my mind that Katherine Robertson is fully committed to the mission of serving as attorney general," he added.

According to Broussard, Robertson, chief counsel to the AG, has the potential to become one of the "most effective and influential" attorneys general in the entire country.

"She has dedicated the last ten years of her career to serving in the attorney general’s office," he noted. "She stayed when the work was hard and difficult, and she remained committed when other opportunities were presented to her. That kind of loyalty and conviction matters."

Broussard added, "I encourage all Republicans to join me in supporting her on June 16th."

The endorsement comes on the heels of an endorsement from District Attorney CJ Robinson, who serves in the 19th Circuit, which includes Autauga, Chilton and Elmore Counties.

The runoff between Robertson and Mitchell has been scheduled for June 16.
