Several members of Alabama's federal delegation are calling out Dr. Anthony Fauci and the Chinese Communist Party for potentially lying about the origins of COVID-19 now that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is saying it most likely came leaked from a lab in Wuhan, China.

The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday that the DOE, which had previously been undecided on the virus' origin, published its updated opinion — which it believes with "low confidence" — in a classified report to key members of the Biden administration and U.S. Congress.

For many, this report confirms what they've long held as the true origins of the virus, which is why some lawmakers are now demanding repercussions for Fauci and others involved who may have covered up the facts.

"We have known Dr. Fauci lied about the origins of COVID, masks, vaccines and so much more," U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) said on Twitter. "That's why I introduced legislation that would eliminate Dr. Fauci's entire federal pension if he is found to have lied to the American people. It's time to bring common sense back to D.C."

"It appears that Dr. Fauci was lying the whole time! America deserves the truth," U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks) tweeted.

Others are also holding China responsible for the leak.

"So far, the Chinese Communist Party has gotten away with lying to the world and covering up the origins of COVID," U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) said. We need to fight for the truth and hold them accountable."
