The left-wing organization Bright Blue Dots, which celebrates liberal and progressive voters in red states, has recently placed Russian-themed billboards in Birmingham targeting U.S. Sens. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) and Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) with false messaging insinuating that they or President Donald Trump support Vladimir Putin.

The group's website boasts, "During election year 2016, between 50 and 60% of sales were donated to the Deomcratic [sic] presidential candidate and to organizations such as the Southern Poverty Law Center, the ACLU, National Resources Defense Council and Emily's List. Individuals may not feel their small donations can help. But banding together with others when Dot purchases are made gives a little more power to us all."

The announcement for the new billboards was posted shortly after the group made a post in support of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine. That post included an image of Zelenskyy in the Oval Office, saying, “This man and his people have valiantly fought America’s #archenemy so we don’t have to. So #NATO doesn’t have to. And this is how our country pays him back—by stabbing him in the back. In front of the very world he continues to fight to save.”

The next two messages were images of billboard mockups stating that the group was, “Putting TRUTH on the street for all to find in #alabama One outdoor board at a time. #truth in a time of #lies #gop members of #congress are too chicken to say a peep about this administration selling our U.S. soul to #russia"

These are the third set of messages the group has funded throughout the Birmingham area in recent months. Earlier billboards criticized Elon Musk and Britt over potential budget cuts to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), and a later one targeted Tuberville over the price of eggs.
