Services are set for Thursday for former Public Service (PSC) Commissioner Terry Dunn. He died on January 22 in Gadsden at age 64.
A visitation will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Collier-Butler Funeral Home in Gadsden. A funeral follows at 11 a.m. at the same location.
Dunn was elected to the PSC, place two, in 2010 and served a four-year term.
In 2013, he proposed holding formal hearings on utility rate increase requests rather than the "rate stabilization" formula to set rates. He did not get a second for his proposal on the three-member commission, and it died.
In 2014, Dunn was defeated for re-election by Chip Beeker, Greene County Commission chairman. Beeker continues to serve on the PSC until this time.
Dunn served the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind as a longtime member of the board of trustees and its vice president. He successfully led a fight for the deaf community to keep $34 million for their Alabama Dual Relay Board.
Dunn was a general contractor. He got his big break with contracts with the Bruno brothers of Birmingham.
Dunn is survived by his wife, Alicia Dunn and daughter Andrea Dunn of Southside.
