The Mobile Police Department responded Tuesday to a shooting at LeFlore High School just after noon on Tuesday.

Police Chief Paul Prine confirmed two juveniles were shot.

"Upon arrival, officers discovered that a 16-year-old female juvenile had engaged in a verbal altercation with a 15-year-old male victim," police said in a statement. "During the argument, the female subject produced a handgun and shot the 15-year-old, causing a superficial wound. The bullet also struck a 17-year-old male student who was subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury."

The suspect surrendered to police after her parents were notified.

No other injuries were reported.
