Every mainstream media outlet in Alabama omitted in recent coverage who was behind some of the anti-Charlie Kirk remarks that led to the firings of multiple Auburn University employees.

Auburn University announced on Wednesday that it was terminating multiple employees hours after an employee on campus called Charlie Kirk a "vile human" after his assassination and said, "I do not give one f*ck that he is gone."

The statement from Auburn University didn't specifically name which employees were terminated, and other media outlets besides 1819 News didn't bother to look or mention who may have been one of those fired.

Seth McCollough, also known as Colana Bleu, a former music teacher at Drake Middle School who was then hired by Auburn University, said Charlie Kirk should "Rest in PISS" after his assassination last week. The drag queen and former teacher of Auburn's Drake Middle School, who resigned after receiving backlash from reporting by 1819 News, for comments he made about using podcasts to reach his students and others with LGBTQ+ topics, was then hired by Auburn University in 2024. Shortly after McCollough's latest comments began going viral on Wednesday, Auburn University announced multiple terminations of employees.

McCollough was the president of the executive board for Pride on the Plains, the flagship LGBTQ+ pride organization in Auburn, Opelika and the surrounding communities.

Neither the Alabama Reflector, AL(dot)com, Montgomery NBC affiliate WSFA, Birmingham NBC affiliate WVTM 13, Birmingham's CBS 42, Columbus, Ga. CBS affiliate WRBL, Huntsville ABC affiliate WAAY, Birmingham ABC affiliate ABC 33/40, or others decided this information was worth their audiences knowing, and did not mention any details about the employees beyond the Auburn University press release.
