Friday, during an interview with Huntsville radio WVNN's Dale Jackson, Senate Education Trust Fund Committee chairman State Sen. Arthur Orr (R-Decatur) said he expected a Senate vote on the education savings account bill, the CHOOSE Act, late next week.

The legislation passed in the House of Representatives with a 69-34 vote last week.

"[I] think we're almost done with it," he said. "But we'll see what next week holds. But I would think, Dale, that bill will get a vote late next week."

"I think the votes are pretty much set," Orr added. "We'll certainly hear a lot of rhetoric from the other side on that, but the bill should move forward. Governor Ivey has been out front and strongly pushing and put this together. Her team has been very good to work with and made a lot of changes early on that I think took some potential landmines out of the bill."
