A new coalition has formed in Alabama to combat the statewide concern over "progressive liberal propaganda" in public schools and libraries.

The Protect Alabama's Children Coalition (PACC) was announced at a legislative town hall in Prattville on Monday. At the town hall, lawmakers discussed goals for the 2025 legislative session to address concerns over schools, libraries and more. Clean Up Alabama, Moms for Liberty and Local Alabama, all of whom are participating in the PACC, hosted the event. Clean Up Alabama was formed after Prattville became ground zero for the now statewide controversy surrounding sexually explicit and LGBTQ-promoting books targeted at minors.

"Basically, anything that Clean Up Alabama would support legislation-wise or anything that LOCAL Alabama or Moms for Liberty would support legislation-wise and things that we are actually hoping to get implemented this legislative season in 2025, it'll be a one-stop shop where you can come and get all your information in one spot," said Clean Up Alabama Founder Hannah Rees.

According to its website, PACC "is a coalition dedicated to safeguarding Alabama's youth from progressive liberal propaganda in schools and public libraries." at minors in public libraries.

"We are a coalition of concerned organizations united by a common goal: to safeguard the minds of our state's youth from the pervasive influence of progressive liberal propaganda in schools and public libraries," The site reads. We believe that children, especially in their formative years, should be nurtured with truth and integrity rather than subjected to politically charged agendas that distort their understanding of the world."

It continues, "We advocate for common sense legislation that upholds the rights of parents to guide their children's education and protects our youth from the infiltration of biased and misleading content in public institutions. We work tirelessly to engage with Alabama's lawmakers, raise public awareness, and support initiatives that promote educational integrity and safeguard our children's minds from harmful ideologies."

The coalition has a list of goals for legislative fixes to issues they see as pervasive in the upcoming legislative session. They include:

  • Prohibit discussion on gender identity and sexual orientation in K-12

  • Sexual education focused only on risk avoidance

  • Prohibit materials with sexual content for minors in libraries

  • Remove library exemption under Obscenity Laws

  • Parental rights amended into the State Constitution

  • Define man and woman as biological sexes
