Steven Lambert, a longtime District 3 resident, small business owner, and dedicated community leader, recently announced his candidacy for Montgomery City Council District 3 in the upcoming special election on September 1.
The special election will fill the vacant District 3 seat. The Montgomery City Council voted unanimously in June to vacate Marche Johnson from her District 3 seat.
Eighteen candidates originally filed qualifying paperwork to run for the seat. However, only 15 ended up qualifying and meeting various state requirements to run.
“I’m running for City Council because Montgomery deserves better, and District 3 desperately needs real leadership right now,” Lambert said. “For too long, politics as usual has left our neighborhoods with blight, struggling parks, broken roads, and families asking why their tax dollars aren’t delivering safer streets and cleaner communities. I’m not a politician — I’m a husband, father, and small business owner who has spent years serving my community and trying to help build a better Montgomery. It’s time for people-first leadership that puts results over rhetoric and finally moves the needle on public safety, neighborhood revitalization, and smart growth so District 3 becomes the best place in Montgomery to live, work, and raise a family.”
Lambert’s platform focuses on four priorities: clean neighborhoods, safe communities, secure infrastructure, and strategic growth.
A District 3 resident, Lambert has worked tirelessly to promote downtown Montgomery and the River Region while helping organizations, businesses, and nonprofits tell their stories and grow. He believes strong communities are built through collaboration, accountability, and practical action — not endless politics.
“I’m running because our neighbors deserve a council member who shows up, listens, and gets things done,” Lambert added. “Together, we can make District 3 the go-to neighborhood in our city — safer, cleaner, and full of opportunity.”
The special election for Montgomery City Council District 3 will be held on Tuesday, September 1.
