A nationwide initiative to “repel the invasion of illegal immigration” netted three arrests in Birmingham.
Jacob Garcia Martinez, 41, Jose Sanchez-Flores, 31 and Jorge Alexis Campos-Dolores, 30, all of Mexico, were indicted by a federal grand jury for illegally reentering the United States after being deported.
Campos-Dolores was also charged with being an alien in possession of a firearm.
According to the indictments, Martinez was previously removed from the United States in 2017 following a felony conviction. Martinez was arrested again in January for certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm, second-degree receiving stolen property, obstructing justice using a false ID, unlawful possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest garnered attention after Leeds Police said a woman tried to obstruct the operation.

Sanchez-Flores was previously deported in 2020 after a felony conviction out of Nashville for possession of a weapon and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. In January, he was arrested by the Montevallo Police Department and charged with driving under the influence, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Court documents show that Campos-Dolores was arrested in January after an undercover ALEA operation to purchase firearms and methamphetamine. Campos-Dolores was found in possession of firearms and admitted to immigration enforcement that he was in the United States illegally.
Operation Take Back America provides U.S. Marshals with full resources to eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCSs), said acting U.S. Attorney Catherine L. Crosby.
The defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty.
