HUNTSVILLE — Saturday, U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) was the much-publicized keynote speaker for the Moms for Liberty Madison Chapter fundraiser, "For Such a Time as This." The event was held in Huntsville at The Brewhouse Cooperative, with 200 attendees in attendance, according to Emily Jones, chairman of Moms for Liberty Madison.

The left-wing group Indivisible North Alabama had planned a protest ahead of the event, and 150 protesters, carrying signs, noisemakers and chanting, gathered outside the venue grounds. However, the protesters were relegated to a grass area near the parking lot, well away from the Brewhouse Cooperative. For a brief time, the protesters were successfully drowned out by a married couple with a megaphone, who counterprotested on religious grounds.

The counter-protesting couple proclaimed loudly that they were not supporters of Greene and baited the Indivisible group, using incendiary language against the protesters. Some of the Indivisible protestors attempted to engage with the couple, but the Huntsville Police Department and Madison County Sheriff's officers managed to keep the protesters apart. The Indivisible group decided to take a circuit around the venue to be heard.

The event also saw heightened security due to the event space being tagged with an offensive graffiti message: "F*** MTG and M4L. Shoot those crackers," as 1819 News' Caleb Taylor reported.

In a conversation with Jones earlier this week, she affirmed that "We're still 100% mission-focused and doing the things we've always done to stand up for our rights as parents and for our children."

The evening began with Greene autographing copies of her 2023 book for VIP guests, taking selfies, and mingling with like-minded patriots as they viewed items for the silent auction. Alabama Republican Party chairman John Wahl, candidates for Alabama lieutenant governor and other state representatives and designees were also in attendance.

In his introductory remarks, her colleague U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) said, "I'm not here to make a speech, I'm here to welcome a great friend. She's a fighter for America. She loves this country."

Greene began her speech by contrasting the "patriots" in the venue, who, she said, loved their country, with the room's windows, which were papered over for their protection.

"We're the ones in here with the paper on the glass. Think about this: the communists are outside, but they call us fascists! This is insanity."

Greene made reference to her long-form interview with media personality Tucker Carlson and encouraged those who had not seen it yet to do so, advising them not to believe the sound bites and headlines being circulated about the discussion.

Greene moved into the meat of her talk by pointing to her upbringing with her Baby Boom parents, who were small business owners and worked hard to earn a living and raise a family, only to have decision makers in Washington pilfer away the country's future.

"But here's what happened to us: the stupid people in Washington, D.C. sold all of us all out," Greene said. "And over time they made decisions where foreign countries became more important than the very people that elected them and sent them to Washington to serve."

Greene discussed how every small town in Georgia has an abandoned factory that looms over the town as a reminder of what has been lost, thanks to D.C. selling out the American people, and the fallout Americans have suffered since then.

"We've been sold out. And it makes me really angry. It makes me so angry," she said.

Greene decried the trillions of dollars spent by Congress on foreign wars and wasted on the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). Then Greene spoke to the heart of why she fights so hard.

"But here's where it gets really granular to me, and it gets very personal. I know there are many women and there are fathers in this room — moms and dads in this room, and grandparents who can relate to what I'm about to say. I've got three kids. They're ages 22, 25, and 27. Their generation is not even thinking about the American Dream. They're not hopeful for the future. Their generation is looking toward the future as if they'll never make it.

"This is the life that we are handing our children and grandchildren. And these are the decisions that have been made in Washington, D.C. and I'm so friggin' sick of it."

Greene praised Moms for Liberty, calling them "the best mothers in the country," to loud applause. Then she challenged the audience to maintain the fight and work to enact change.

"We literally have to the better. If we don't turn back and run the other direction as fast as possible, we're really going to have problems."

Greene also warned that we must reject the premise that the Democrats are in disarray.

"Democrats might be a little messed up, but they are getting their sh*t together. And that's a problem.

Greene warned that the New York mayoral race, where self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani won the primary, is a bellwether.

"They are getting it together, and they are changing their own party the same way that MAGA changed the Republican Party. But it's not a party for America. They are coming to radically transform America."

Greene affirmed that she wanted to get President Donald Trump's agenda passed and spoke about the aspects of the Big Beautiful Bill that she loves, but also about the poison pills that the D.C. swamp is still trying to embed, such as Medicaid for undocumented immigrants and green new deal scams disguised in lofty language.

"But this is a big issue," Greene continued. "How will voters want to come out in big numbers and vote for Republicans if we aren't getting it done in D.C.?

"We need to see the people that we represent. Our job title is 'representative.' For people, not for lobbyists, not for special interest groups. Not for any of that."

Greene rounded out her speech with her chairmanship of the DOGE Caucus, the exposure of fraud, and the personalities who are a part of the caucus, including Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), who Greene said she actually enjoys having on the committee.

"Because it's always really interesting and it's a great face for the Democrat Party, it really is, because none of it makes sense."

Greene discussed her foray into the culture war in 2018, when she attempted to rally mothers, the city council, and churches to oppose a Drag Queen Story Hour at their library. Greene said,

"These movements that you're all fighting against, they start when no one stands up and stops it. They don't want to get involved. They don't want to take any heat. They don't want to have those people out there. They don't want to have to put paper on their windows. They don't want to worry about getting their building graffitied, and they don't want to worry about death threats."

Greene praised Moms for Liberty for their commitment to stand against the fray and take the flak.

"This is why, I love you, Moms for Liberty! You should be so proud of yourself. Look, I'm one little bitty member of Congress. But I think what you are doing: fighting in your schools. Fighting your school boards. Fighting your teacher's unions that are radical, communist activists. What you all are saying is you are not going to ruin my precious child. That is the greatest thing you can do. I'm telling you, it's far better than being a member of Congress. You are doing the right thing."

Greene assured that her bill, the "Protecting Children's Innocence Act," which criminalizes sex change operations and the drugs and hormones that can be given to children, has President Trump's approval and will make it to the House floor for a vote "very soon."

Greene reiterated why she fights, but that she does not fight alone.

"I'm in Congress, and I'm ticked off, and I'm fighting for my kids. And that's a mission that we all share together. We have screwed up in America. Washington, D.C. has screwed it up so badly that these young people have no choice. And they're going to turn to radical leaders that give them empty promises and lies. And this is what our kids are going to turn to. It's our job, it's our responsibility right now to do everything we can to fix it. And fixing it is the most important thing that we can do. It's absolutely essential and necessary.

"That's what drives me every single day. I didn't go to Washington for a job title."

Greene reminded that she is under constant threat of death since being elected and re-elected to Congress, but said,

"In spite of all that stuff, I'm still a pissed-off mom, and I'm fighting for my kids."
