Marshall County Schools officials are continuing to investigate a classroom incident where a teacher has been accused of making derogatory remarks about Charlie Kirk following his assassination last week.

Superintendent Cindy Wigley confirmed to 1819 News on Tuesday that the teacher had been removed from the classroom while the investigation into the accusations was underway. However, she said she was "not aware of any Marshall County School employee that has posted or stated anything that celebrates the death of Charlie Kirk."

Following a report published Tuesday, 1819 News spoke with another parent who shared their student's experience with the teacher.

"He said [Kirk] was an 'awful person, homophobic, racist, misogynist, spreading hate,'" the parent, who wished to remain anonymous, said. "He got upset in class when the kids stood up for Charlie and didn't agree with his opinions."

The teacher has a history of pushing his political beliefs on students, the parent said.

"The teacher told the kids at the beginning of the year, 'They can't fire me,' after he had rudely joked with some of the kids," the parent said. "The parents and kids are very upset! If he's allowed to return, a lot of kids will be homeschooled."

So far, the superintendent has not released the name of the teacher or school involved.
