The trial for the Albertville realtor accused of conspiracy to transport illegal aliens has been delayed at the defense's request.
Arely Guzman's trial in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas was set for March 17. However, her attorneys requested a 30-day continuance to have more time to prepare.
“This initial continuance will allow defense counsel to continue to obtain discovery and further consult with his client,” the motion stated.
Chief U.S. District Judge Alia Moses approved the defense’s motion, moving the trial to April 21 following the docket call and rearraignment on April 14. Any potential plea agreement must be submitted to the court before April 10.
“The Court finds that the period between March 4, 2026 through April 21, 2026, is a reasonable period of necessary delay to allow counsel time for preparation for trial," the judge wrote in the approval. The Court further finds that the interest of justice served by taking this action outweighs the best interest of the public and the defendant in a speedy trial, and further finds that such period shall be excluded from the time which the defendant must be brought to trial under the Speedy Trial Act pursuant to Title 18, United States Code, Section 3161(h)(8).”
Guzman was arrested on Dec. 19, 2025, on charges of doxxing Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. That arrest alerted Homeland Security Investigators in Eagle Pass, Texas — where the alleged trafficking took place — of Guzman’s location.
Guzman is also accused of aggravated shooting of an illegal alien, extortion and hostage taking in Houston, Texas, in June 2024, and assault in DeKalb County in May 2025, along with her alleged partner, Alex Corona.
