MONTGOMERY — Attendance at the ALGOP's summer dinner in Montgomery, where former President Donald Trump is the keynote speaker on Friday, is expected to break a record for previous Republican Party dinner events in the Yellowhammer State.
According to the ALGOP, over 2,000 attendees are expected at the Renaissance Montgomery and Convention Center.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis's keynote speech at the ALGOP's winter dinner in March currently holds the attendance record for an ALGOP dinner event at 1,700. The second-highest attended dinner was by former Texas Gov. Rick Perry in 2011, according to The Hill.
Both Trump and DeSantis are currently running for the Republican Party's nomination for President in 2024.
"We are doing our best to accommodate everyone wanting tickets. This is an amazing opportunity to host the frontrunner for the GOP nomination, and give Alabamians the chance to hear from President Trump directly about his vision for our nation," ALGOP Chairman Wahl said in a statement about the upcoming event.
The evening will kick off with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $250 for one general public ticket and $400 for two tickets.
