Former President Donald Trump is planning to visit Alabama this summer as part of his campaign to reclaim the White House in the 2024 presidential election.
The Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) announced Wednesday that Trump would be heading an event this summer, but the details and logistics are still being worked out.
"The Alabama Republican Party is excited to have President Trump joining us for an event this summer as he tours across the country talking about his vision for America," ALGOP chairman John Wahl said. "The people of Alabama and President Trump have a special relationship, and we're pleased to be part of bringing him back to our state. This is going to be an exciting event, and we are looking forward to announcing full details soon."
Wahl said the event is part of the ALGOP's "trend of bringing the biggest names in conservative politics to the Yellowhammer State." Trump last visited Alabama in 2021 during a record-breaking rally in Cullman that drew over 50,000 attendees.
"It's important for me that Alabama gets the attention it deserves on the national stage. That's one of my priorities as ALGOP chairman, and I want to thank Donald Trump and his team for making this visit possible," Wahl said. "This is going to be a great opportunity for the people of Alabama to hear directly from the front runner for the Republican presidential nomination."
Wahl said more information about the event will be available soon on the ALGOP's website, algop.org.
