With combat operations against Iran now intensifying daily, Americans are expressing concerns about the possibility of placing U.S. troops in the Middle Eastern country for an extended conflict.

On Monday, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) allayed some of those concerns, telling 1819 News that the military action in Iran is not a "forever war" like those fought in Afghanistan and Iraq, but a "targeted" operation with a specific expected outcome.

“President Trump and Secretary Hegseth have been clear — our military is executing a targeted, highly-strategic operation to ensure Iranian terrorists never possess a nuclear weapon," said Tuberville. "This isn’t about ‘nation building’ like some of the forever-wars of the past. That being said, it is stupid to preview your military plans to your enemies."

"President Trump and Secretary Hegseth have said that all options are on the table as we work to eliminate the threat of Iran ever having nuclear weapons," he added.
