U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) threw his support in yet again for President Donald Trump’s pick as Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. as Senate hearings begin on Wednesday.

RFK Jr.’s first hearing was held on Wednesday morning, where Senate Committee on Finance members questioned the Trump nominee on his stances on vaccines, abortion, healthcare and more.

RFK. Jr. will have his second confirmation hearing on Thursday before the Senate Health Committee, which holds several prominent Republican voices, including Tuberville.

If Wednesday’s Senate hearing was any indication, RFK Jr. can expect a full beratement from Senate Democrats attempting to highlight his perceived shortcoming or lack of qualifications.

Democratic bleating has not swayed Tuberville, however, who told reporters on Wednesday that he fully plans to back RFK Jr. when he comes before the health committee on Thursday.

“Tomorrow, RFK Jr. will come before the Senate Health Committee to outline his vision for [HHS},” Tuberville said. “I've had the privilege of getting to know Bobby over the last several weeks, and I've come to consider him a friend.”

“You'll probably see my colleagues across the aisle try to smear him and give a list of reasons why he isn't qualified. The truth is, Bobby is a change agent who wants to bring transparency to our food and healthcare system. Millions of Americans voted for President Trump, in part, because of Robert Kennedy’s plans to make America healthy again. As a founder of the Make America Healthy Again caucus in the Senate, I am 100% on board. RFK doesn't care about the status quo; he’s just concerned with helping all Americans live longer, healthier lives. I'm looking forward to hearing tomorrow and will continue to strongly support his confirmation as HHS secretary.”
