MONTGOMERY — The FBI is in the process of sending more agents to Montgomery, according to U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn).
Tuberville, who is running for governor in 2026, told attendees of a Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast on Thursday, “There will be a surge of FBI coming to Montgomery and they’ll be coming here in a very short period of time.”
“They won’t be noticeable. They’ll be more investigative people, people coming in and backing up the local law enforcement. They’ve done that in several cities, and nobody even knew. I just found out from (FBI Director) Kash Patel this week that they were going to send people in to help see if there’s anything else that they can do,” he told reporters after the event. “The FBI is already here, but there will be more people coming and at the end of the day let’s see if it helps. If not, there’s always other options down the road and hopefully we can get control of it.”
Montgomery was the site of a deadly downtown shootout recently that left two dead and 12 injured. Montgomery Police have made two arrests related to the incident.
