U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) has made the defense of Title IX one of his priorities early in his tenure in the Senate.

Title IX prohibits schools that receive federal funding from discriminating based on sex. However, the Biden administration seeks to extend Title IX protections to the LGBT community, which would forbid discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and sex characteristics.

That interpretation could create a federal mandate allowing biological males who proclaim themselves to be transgender females to participate in women's sports.

During an interview with "The Jeff Poor Show" on FM Talk 106.5 in Mobile, Tuberville criticized those efforts in public education and said the fight to stop it was "good versus evil."

"Joe Biden came out about four weeks ago and just right before the 50th anniversary said we're going to change Title IX," Tuberville said. "We're going to change the definition of sex. If boys feel like that if they're a woman, then they can compete against women. Up until, I think, this past year, boys participating in women's sports won [28] championships.

"Now think about that ... girls had no chance in this competition. So, yeah, we're still fighting it. But there's a litany of things the Biden administration is trying to do. This gender, change of gender – all of the things they're putting across our young kids, teaching trans in elementary school, it's a total degradation of our country. It's good versus evil."

Tuberville laid the blame for these failings on removing God from the culture.

"We've got to get God back in our country, Jeff, or this country is not going to make it," Tuberville added. "We've got to start fighting back and start speaking up. But for some reason, people don't want to do that. I don't know what it is. They want to [put] pride in front instead of talking about the things that are really happening and make a difference here in our country, and that's God being on the front burner for everything that we do, especially when it comes to this transgender and Title IX mishap that we're having as we speak."
