U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) on Thursday weighed in on Alabama's hotly contested second congressional district race and took a shot at Democrat candidate Shomari Figures.
During an interview on Huntsville WVNN's "The Dale Jackson Show," Tuberville praised the Republican in the race, Caroleene Dobson, who he said was "doing very well." As for Figures, Tuberville described the former Obama administration member as an "Obama lookalike" who would represent the Democratic Party in Washington, D.C., instead of his district.
“[Dobson is] doing very well, trying to get some name ID, but also the other guy that got running against her, he's an Obama lookalike," Tuberville told host Dale Jackson. "You know, he's a guy that spent most of his time in Washington, D.C., hadn't spent any time in the district, and he's not going to represent the district. He's going to represent the Democratic Party in Washington, D.C. That's all he's going to do."
"So, I think she's got a great chance, and she's getting, we just need to get people out to vote, and I think they will," he continued. "She was leading there for a while, it came back to even, so I think it's a toss-up as we speak, Dale.”
