During a Wednesday call with the press, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) said he was "praying" over a potential gubernatorial run instead of seeking another term in the U.S. Senate.

On Tuesday, Punchbowl News reported that Tuberville was considering running for Alabama’s next governor in 2026.

The former Auburn football coach emphasized that he wanted to do what was best for Alabama and would make his decision based on what was best for him and the state.

"I love representing Alabama, especially here in the Senate," Tuberville outlined. "I've learned a lot, especially with President Trump here. Now, the first four years were tough. I am up for reelection in two years, and I've heard a lot about Alabamians that want me to run for governor."

"You know, I've talked to my family. I'm praying about it to do what's best for me, my family and for the people of the state of Alabama," he continued. "I just don't do this to be doing it. I'm not up here for any kind of ego. I wouldn't run for governor for any kind of ego. I want to help the people of Alabama. So, one thing is for sure: I love this country, and I'll continue fighting for the great people of Alabama, because you've been very good to me. You voted me in overwhelmingly. I've represented you very hard and truthfully. I speak up. I don't put up with any nonsense. I want Alabama to be first in everything along with our country. So, I'll let you know. I'll look at this, but right now, I'm really enjoying working with President Trump and his team."

"I will consider this on both ends, what's the best for me and the people of Alabama, and at the end of the day, we'll all make the right decision on this," Tuberville concluded.
