U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) says he remains undecided on his 2026 election plans.

During an interview that aired on Thursday's broadcast of Mobile radio FM Talk 106.5's "The Jeff Poor Show," the former college football coach turned politician laid out a timeline for announcing his decision.

Tuberville made the remarks despite reports suggesting he was leaning toward a gubernatorial bid.

"Yeah, probably next few weeks. We're getting closer. Again, it's not a lot of time to sit down, even with my staff up here, thinking about and looking at with the timeline and looking at the future of, you know, how can I help Alabamians the best? Can it be up here? Or can it be coming back to Alabama?"

"We'll make that decision," he continued. "I don't want it to go too far. There are other people waiting on the decision that we would possibly will make. And once we get it out of the way, we're still — of course, if we decide to do the governor thing, we still got over a year and a half here, which we'll do full speed every day, and no different than what we've been doing. Or if we stay here, we'll just ramp it up and continue on doing what we're doing. But again, the main thing we got to do right now is we have to give President Trump that opportunity because I'm telling you, it is a war zone up here with the mainstream media and the Democrats. They're coming after him every day. Thank God he's the president because there ain't many of them that can do what he's doing and get things done with all the negativity that they're throwing at him 24 hours a day."
