An investigation is underway in Baldwin County after a husband and wife were shot and killed Saturday night.

The shootings happened just outside the Foley city limits, on Greenway Drive. Deputies with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office were called to the home around 10:07 p.m.

"The caller identified Scott Blackwell as the suspect, and he was described as exhibiting strange behavior while armed with a pistol," the sheriff's office stated in a press release. "Shortly after that call, Scott Blackwell became physically violent toward his wife, Cindy Blackwell, before shooting her."

Deputies believe that after Blackwell shot his wife, another family member shot him. When deputies arrived on the scene, both Cindy and Scott Blackwell were dead.

No charges have been filed in the shootings because investigators believe the surviving shooter was acting in defense of Cindy Blackwell and others in the home.

The findings will be turned over to the Baldwin County District Attorney's Office and later presented to a grand jury.
