The Alabaster Police Department is investigating after two people were shot on Interstate 65 Wednesday afternoon.
The shooting occurred in the southbound lane at the 238-mile marker. Traffic was delayed at rush hour due to the investigation.
Police said the two victims sustained gunshot wounds to their lower extremities. The victims were transported to the hospital for treatment.
“Based on current information, there is no ongoing threat to the public,” police stated.
