U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) is considering running for Senate in 2026.
U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) announced on Tuesday that he would be running for governor in 2026 rather than seek re-election to the Senate, leaving his seat up for grabs.
Moore told 1819 News on Tuesday that he and his family were praying about the decision.
“I am honored to be in the conversation as Alabamians begin to look at who they want to represent them in the United States Senate. Our state is blessed with a number of strong conservative voices. I’m proud of the record I have built in the U.S. House as an effective conservative fighter and an ally to President Trump with more than 6,400 federal agency cases resolved for my constituents,” Moore said.
“My family and I are praying and asking the Lord to guide us in this decision. As we seek His guidance, we’re listening to the people of Alabama and considering how we can best continue to serve this great state.”
Moore was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020. He won the race for AL-1 in 2024, defeating incumbent U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) after Alabama's district lines were redrawn per a court order.
