President Joe Biden is still on the receiving end of backlash for a fist bump with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, during an overseas trip earlier this month.

It was widely speculated Biden made the trip to encourage Saudi Arabia to increase its crude oil production as gas prices continue to eat into the president's poll numbers.

U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) criticized Biden during an interview that aired Sunday on Mobile's NBC 15 News.

The freshman congressman called it "embarrassing" and referenced accusations from Biden and his allies that the Saudi prince was responsible for the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

"I thought it was embarrassing," he said. "I mean, to call the prince out as a murderer and then go over and ask him for help – I think that shows some tremendous weakness, tremendous weakness. I'm from the old school, innocent until proven guilty. That's just my mindset."
