Top 25-ranked Auburn and Alabama aren't the only state schools still vying for an NCAA Basketball national championship. Both UAB and Samford are also going dancing after winning their respective conference championships.
After beating Temple in the American Athletic Conference Basketball championship game, UAB was given a 12 seed in the East Region. The Blazers will face No. 5 seed San Diego State in Spokane, Wash., in the first round on Friday.
Should UAB advance past the Aztecs, a matchup versus in-state Auburn could take place in the second round.
Samford won the Southern Conference championship on Wednesday and now has a date with blueblood Kansas in the first round of the tournament. The Bulldogs, a No. 13 seed in the Midwest Region, must travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, to play on Thursday.
Gov. Kay Ivey commended all four Alabama schools that made the tournament on Twitter.
Huge congratulations to @auburnmbb, @alabamambb, @uab_mbb and @samfordmbb for their 2024 #MarchMadness selection.
