The Dean Odle campaign for Governor announced on Monday that Troy Towns has endorsed Odle’s bid for Governor. Towns is the former Vice Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party and also served as Chairman of the Minority Republican Party. He is the pastor of a Church in the Montgomery area.

“The former Vice Chairman of the ALGOP and former Chairman of the Minority GOP just gave me his endorsement,” Odle said on social media.

“We’re in a point in time in this state, we’re looking at what’s going on in the world, what’s going on in Russia, what’s going on in this nation, how socialism is trying to take over,” Towns said. “And it’s so important during this time that we have someone who is over our state who is not status quo, who is not the same good ole boy network. We need someone different. We need someone that has been ordained by God to be the governor of our state. As I think about it, I’ve been involved in politics a long time, I’m the former Vice Chairman of the state Republican Party. I’ve been a part of Republican politics for a very, very long time. I’ve had a lot of speaking engagements over the years. I’ve seen the ins and the outs of what this is and what our party is. But sometimes God gives us an opportunity, He presents someone there, we have to know, we have to be able to discern when God has put someone here that is the right person at the right time. I think God did that with President Trump a few years ago and I think He’s doing the same thing, the very same thing right now in the state of Alabama and I believe Dean Odle is that person.

Towns said he doesn’t think Odle is from the ‘good ole boy network’ and that he loves the state of Alabama and the people in it.

“He knows what needs to be done, he’s going to do it the right way,” said Towns. “I’ve been knowing the man for many, many years. He’s a man of integrity. I’ve never seen anything but integrity. If he tells you something you can bank on it.”

Dean Odle is a Lee County pastor, evangelist, and schoolmaster. He is challenging incumbent Gov. Kay Ivey (R) in the Alabama Republican primary.

Lindy Blanchard, Lew Burdette, Stacy Lee George, Kay Ivey, Tim James, Donald Trent Jones, Dean Odle, Dave Thomas, and Dean Young are all running in the May 24 Republican primary. The winner of the GOP primary will face the winner of the Alabama Democratic Primary in the general election on Nov. 8.
