Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl cosponsored a resolution to censure Republican Congressmembers Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger. The censure resolution was passed by the Republican National Committee at its Winter Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah.

"Congresswoman Cheney continues to show no remorse for voting to impeach President Trump – not only against the wishes of her constituents in Wyoming, but also against Republican voters across America, including Alabama,” Wahl said. “That in itself is disappointing. However, when she continues to give interviews to the media a year later, doubling down on socialist Democrat talking points against the President, it's time for our Party to call her out and let her know we won't stand for it any longer.”

The resolution's other co-sponsors were Maryland Republican Committeeman Dave Bossie and Wyoming GOP Chairman Frank Eathorne.

The Alabama Republican Party passed its own resolution against Cheney during its 2021 Winter Meeting, calling for her to be removed as House Republican Conference Chair.

"This is an important issue to Alabama's Republican voters,” said Wahl. “The ALGOP State Executive Committee voted overwhelmingly in favor of removing her as Conference Chair. I'm proud to represent the members of the Alabama Republican Party on the RNC, and also proud to stand with my fellow chairmen, as we work to Restore America and take back the U.S. House and Senate.”

Alabama Republican State Executive Committee Member former State Rep. Perry O. Hooper Jr. (R-Montgomery) co-authored the Alabama Republican Party Executive Committee resolution which passed during the 2021 ALGOP Winter meeting.

“I applaud John Wahl in taking the lead at the Winter Meeting of the Republican National Committee,” Hooper said.  “Cheney and Kinzinger voted to impeach President Trump in the sham proceedings of an impeachment trial that was merely a publicity stunt for the Democratic Party. Even worse, they are now participating as Nancy Pelosi’s hand-picked puppets in the witch hunt against every Trump voter by the so-called January 6th committee. Nancy Pelosi refused to seat true Republicans on the committee chosen by House Republican Leadership.  Coward Kinzinger is refusing to face Ohio Republican voters by choosing not to run for re-election.  Liz Cheney will feel the wrath of Republican voters in the Wyoming GOP primary.”

The Alabama Republican Party Winter Dinner will be held on Feb. 18. Dr. Alveda King will be the guest speaker. The 2022 Winter Dinner will be held at the Birmingham Sheraton Hotel. General Admission tickets are $150 and sponsorship opportunities are still available.

The Alabama Republican Party is represented on the Republican National Committee by Chairman Wahl as well as a National Committeeman, Paul Reynolds, and a National Committeewoman, Vicki Drummond. The Alabama Republican Party has one of the largest actual party memberships in the country. As estimated 440 Alabamians serve on the State Executive Committee and votes on resolutions, such as the one condemning Cheney and Kinzinger, at their two biannual meetings each year. The Winter Meeting will be the Saturday after the Winter Dinner fundraiser.
