SEMMES — Pathway Church pastor Travis Johnson delivered a stern message Friday night during a live broadcast of FlashPoint Live from Mobile.

Hundreds heard the message focusing on the destructive path created by progressive ideologies and "progressive Christianity."

Johnson said even the Alabama Legislature was unable to pass a bill to prevent the sexual indoctrination of students in public schools.

If passed and signed into law, House Bill 244 (HB244), by State Rep. Mack Butler (R-Rainbow City), would have prohibited K-12 educators from displaying flags or insignia relating to sexual orientation or gender identity or referring to students by pronouns inconsistent with the student's biological sex.

The bill made it out of the House but never came up for a vote in the Senate.

"I don't know if I'm thankful for a Republican supermajority because the bill didn't pass," Johnson said.

"You've still got the pride flag, Alabama," he added. "The most conservative state in America is less conservative than the federal government."

Johnson asked the congregation to pray for lawmakers, including State Rep. Jennifer Fidler (R-Silverhill), who was in attendance.

"I don't know what's up with that supermajority, but we can do better. I don't care if you're Republican or Democrat, we've got to get this stuff passed," Johnson emphasized. "We've got to figure this stuff out. We've got to figure it out."

Johnson said it's time to stop worrying about offending others and preach God's word.

"Somehow along the way, we have bought into a weak, passive, tamed Christianity," Johnson said as he encouraged other pastors and churchgoers to stand up for Jesus and link with the true, God-given gospel.

"We want America for Jesus!" he said.

Retired Chief Justice Tom Parker attended the event and received a standing ovation when introduced.

FlashPoint Live host Gene Bailey was named to President Donald Trump's Religious Liberty Commission just hours before the show. Bailey, who will serve on the Board of Lay Leaders, recently transitioned FlashPoint Live to an independent 501(c)(3) and said he plans to take it international.
