Lulu Gribbin will return to her home in Mountain Brook on Saturday, two and a half months after she was attacked by a shark during a trip to Florida.

The Mountain Brook Police Department announced they would escort her in a welcome home parade from Mountain Brook Village to Crestline Village.

The shark attack happened on June 7 during a girls' trip to Rosemary Beach.

Gribbin lost her left hand, and her right leg had to be amputated. After multiple surgeries, physical therapy and occupational therapy, her mother, Ann Blair Gribbin, said she has made great strides.

"Lulu never ceases to amaze me, Dr. Gaston, or her therapists," Ann Blair Gribbin wrote in an update on Caring Bridge. "She is going to fly we just have to give her wings to do so and trust she will soar."

Gribbin's friend was also injured in the shark attack. They were two of three people injured by sharks on the same day.

The parade Saturday will begin at 4 p.m.
