Wellborn Cabinet has been in operation for decades in Alabama. The company has survived a recession and uncertain economic outlooks.
Now, thanks to a $28 million expansion, the company is projected to continue thriving and creating over 400 new jobs.
Wellborn Cabinet recently celebrated the completion of the company’s new First Haven Cabinetry facility. The 250,000 square-foot plant in Oxford began operations in August. The plant produced approximately 1,000 cabinets each day.
Wellborn Cabinet CEO Johnny Simpson thanked President Donald Trump’s tariffs for protecting American-made products.
“The Trump Administration’s invocation of Section 232 tariffs on imported kitchen cabinets, vanities, and components is helping protect U.S. jobs and strengthen national security,” Simpson said. “We commend this bold and necessary action, which will help ensure that this facility and others like it across the nation reach their full potential. Wellborn Cabinet’s new First Haven manufacturing facility proudly sources 99% of its components from American suppliers, reinforcing our commitment to domestic production.”

“Wellborn Cabinet is proudly made in the USA,” the company stated on Facebook. “Therefore, we are not impacted by international tariffs. Our vertically integrated manufacturing process, from raw lumber to finished cabinetry, is all managed in Alabama.”
Paul Wellborn, the president and chairman of the board of Wellborn Cabinet, who started building cabinets with his brother back in 1957, thanked God.
“What makes the struggles a lot easier is having good people around you,” Wellborn said. “I thank God for the people who have made this company what it is. It all comes from Him.”
Cabinets made at the new plant will be for entry-level remodeling and new construction markets.
Oxford Mayor Alton Craft said he was thankful that Wellborn Cabinets chose Oxford for expansion.
“This is a big day for Oxford,” said Craft. “This is something I have wanted for a long, long time.”
The new plant is located in the Oxford West Industrial Park and is slated to expand further.
Wellborn Cabinet is family-owned and operated.
