Former U.S. Navy SEAL and founder of Covenant Rescue Group Jared Hudson recently sat down with "1819 News: The Podcast" for a wide-ranging interview about his campaign for U.S. Senate.

After discussing issues of affordability, immigration, human trafficking and his strong Christian faith, Hudson explained his views on foreign policy, particularly the ongoing conflict in Iran. He said while now may be an ideal time for the United States to make its move in Iran, he doesn't trust the current leadership to avoid getting bogged down in another decades-long war.

"We've had neocons for far too long... There's nobody on the Armed Services Committee who's been in a flipping fist fight, much less a gun fight," he said. "And the problem with a lot of these neocons and a lot of the politicians that we've regularly elected that are so excited to sign a line and send somebody to war is because I believe it lines their pockets back here. Or at a minimum, it gives them a lot of influence. They don't care about sending me to war. They don't care about sending our kids to war or your husbands to war like my wife had to do regularly. They don't care about that. And I think that that is the scary thing about Iran right now."

He continued, "Iran's extremely bad. They're killing Americans. They're killing partners overseas. Look at what's going on with the Ayatollah. Twenty-five million people are following the Ayatollah, maybe a little bit less. And then the other 75 million want him out of there. So if there was ever a time that we could strategically fill the void in Iran, now is it. But the scary part is, do we trust the politicians to actually do their job and make sure that we don't go in and have boots on the ground in some place that we don't need to be for months and years, or like in my case, 20 years of the global war on terror, just to pull out like they did during the Afghanistan thing and let's look at it and say, what was a trillion dollars in all the lives we lost, what was that even for?"

"So that's the hard thing. Elect people that are not neocons so that if we do have to go in and deal with Iran, Maduro, the Mexican cartels, go in, deal with them, fix the problem, step away, protect our national borders, stop importing the third world so we don't become the third world, and bring America back to the greatness that we had the opportunity to participate in and we want our kids to participate in," Hudson concluded.
