The Fairhope Public Library debate has elicited passionate responses from both sides to the point that it has become a prominent issue in the City of Fairhope's municipal elections on August 26.

Apparently, among those is longtime AL(dot)com political cartoonist JD Crowe, who used his platform to air his grievances with the same slate of candidates backed by Rebecca Watson, founder of Fairhope Faith Collective and critic of obscene sexual content in the children's section of the Fairhope Public Library.

Crowe, based upon a past cartoon, is on the side of those wishing to continue to offer obscene sexual content in the library's children's section.

For this effort, Crowe employed his signature go-to incendiary Ku Klux Klan branding for Watson, whose collection of front-yard Fairhope city council campaign signs was apparently featured in his "Klanned Karenhood" cartoon published earlier this week.

Or it may have been a coincidence that Crowe, who lives on the same street as Watson in Fairhope's Fruit and Nut District, randomly chose the same signs in the exact same order as his conservative neighbor, which has a statistical probability of 0.83%.

You be the judge.

Watson offered the following response to 1819 News:

It’s troubling to see how far we’ve slipped as a society. I wonder if he truly understands what the Nazis did, or what the KKK did. Surely, a housewife who loves her husband, cares for her children, follows Jesus, advocates for protecting children, and refuses to be intimidated by small-minded bullies making baseless accusations is not their equal. Mr. Crowe and his gang of scarlet-letter hunters could use a history lesson or two. And I can’t help but wonder how many of them will be sitting in church on Sunday morning.

Luke 10:27 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

JD Crowe and cabal, even though I am being hunted, I must tell you I love you. I pray for your hatred and anger not to consume you, but to leave you. For your eyes are cloudy and your mind is foggy. Hatred can do that. Praying for peace that passes all understanding for all of us. 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
