Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth announced on Tuesday his endorsement of Caroleene Dobson for Secretary of State in the 2026 election cycle.

The primary election in Alabama is on May 19.

“Caroleene Dobson is the fresh face with new ideas that we need protecting Alabama’s election system from cheating, fraud, and abuse,” Ainsworth said. “Her detailed campaign platform ensures that honestly cast votes will be counted honestly and that those who attempt to rig or manipulate our elections will be fast tracked to arrest and aggressive prosecution."

Ainsworth praised Dobson’s pledge to form an Election Security Division within her office that will be dedicated to investigating complaints of voter registration and balloting fraud, gathering evidence, and assisting state and local prosecutors who often lack the time and resources necessary to build cases against election manipulators.

“As secretary of state, Caroleene will stand tall against the out-of-state liberals that swarm Alabama each election cycle and engage in ballot harvesting and other questionable methods while attempting to turn our bright red, Republican state into a purple one,” Ainsworth said. “Her Election Security Division will serve as the first line of defense to prevent fraud because she understands that without honest elections, our state’s traditional morals and conservative Alabama values are at risk of being lost.”

Ainsworth said Dobson’s commitment to reducing costs and providing quick and efficient services to Alabama businesses that utilize the Business Division within the Office of Secretary of State is equally important.

“Every business owner dreads navigating the red tape and regulations that Montgomery often places in their path, but Caroleene is committed to providing services in a manner that is simple, painless, and, most importantly, affordable,” Ainsworth said. “Because she is not a career politician, Caroleene brings a much needed outsider’s perspective and commonsense view to the way state government is supposed to operate.”

Ainsworth is term-limited from seeking re-election as lieutenant governor and has announced plans to return to the private sector when his current term ends in 2027.
