UPDATE: The woman has been identified as Choima Agurd, 39, of Lawrenceville, Ga.

Agurd is charged with felony attempting to elude and has been booked into the Montgomery County Jail. She also has warrants out of Texas for aggravated assault of a family member with a gun and aggravated assault against a police officer.

A woman was taken into custody on Friday after a chase and standoff that shut down all lanes of Interstate 65.

The woman was wanted in a shooting that happened in Texas around 2:30 a.m.

A group of people in a Ford SUV called the police and reported an armed woman was following them. The woman, who was an ex-girlfriend of a passenger, was believed to have a pistol.

To avoid being shot, the driver of the truck drove to the Bellaire Police Department. However, the police department and two police officers in marked cars did not deter the woman. Police said she drove around to the passenger side of the truck and shot several rounds. Police returned fire, but the woman fled.

A passenger of the truck was shot several times and was taken to the hospital in serious condition. No other injuries were reported.

When authorities attempted to pull over the suspect’s vehicle hours later, a chase ensued. After the vehicle was stopped in Autauga County, a standoff caused I-65 to be shut down as multiple agencies responded.

The woman has not been identified, pending official charges.
