
Huntsville City School Board member Andrea Alvarez is once again attacking a familiar target in Moms for Liberty's Emily Jones. Jones, who is currently running for Alabama Board of Education Place 8, is best known for establishing and chairing the organization's first chapter in Alabama.

After attacking a new state law allowing public school students to leave campus during the school day for outside religious instruction, Huntsville City School Board member Andrea Alvarez doubled down on her criticism in a social media exchange with State Rep. Ernie Yarbrough (R-Trinity) on Tuesday.

According to Alvarez, the law is not about religion or faith, but about insecure parents and their desire to be "disruptive" in public schools.

Following news of a 38% increase in funding for Alabama's universal school choice program, also known as the CHOOSE Act, Huntsville City School Board member Andrea Alvarez again attacked the Alabama Policy Institute as well as State Sen. Arthur Orr (R-Decatur), chairman of the Senate Finance and Taxation Education Committee.

After legislation requiring public schools to display the Ten Commandments passed the House Education Policy Committee late last week, a Huntsville City School Board member expressed disdain for the state legislature's efforts on the issue.
