Huntsville City School Board member Andrea Alvarez is once again attacking a familiar target in Moms for Liberty's Emily Jones. Jones, currently running for the Alabama Board of Education Place 8, is best known for establishing and chairing the organization's first chapter in Alabama.

Place 8 encompasses Madison, Jackson and Etowah Counties, as well as parts of Limestone and DeKalb Counties.

"Ahem… Don't vote a teacher-hating Moms for Liberty Candidate in the Republican primary on May 19th if you appreciate teachers. Vote literally anyone but Emily," Alvarez wrote recently on social media.

On Tuesday, 1819 News contacted Alvarez regarding her latest statement on Jones and Moms for Liberty.

"Moms for Liberty has harassed public schools for years," Alvarez responded. "They are the minority of parents and should not be given any power over the rest of us."

Following Alvarez's statements, Jones told 1819 News she is "focused on delivering results, not engaging in personal attacks."

"I respect teachers and the work they do every single day—many of them are telling me directly that classrooms need to get back to basics: strong reading instruction, less distraction, and more support for real learning," said Jones. "That's exactly what I'm fighting for."

"Unfortunately, attacks like this are meant to divide parents and teachers, when in reality we should be working together. My campaign is about restoring focus in the classroom, increasing transparency, and making sure every child has the opportunity to succeed—whether that's through strong academics or career pathways. Voters in this district are smart. They can see the difference between political rhetoric and real solutions."

Added Jones, "I'm focused on delivering results, not engaging in personal attacks."

Wayne Reynolds currently holds the seat for Place 8.

Alabama's primary elections are set for May 19.
