The House District 27 seat has finally been filled after Jeana Ross beat out Alan Miller in a special Republican primary election runoff on Tuesday.
The threat of severe weather may have kept some voters from turning out for Tuesday’s special GOP primary election for House District 27, but candidates Jeana Ross and Alan Miller said they were pleased with the support they each received, which was enough to advance them into a runoff.
The special Republican primary election will go to a run-off since none of the six candidates received more than 50% of the vote Tuesday. The top two candidates, Jeana Ross and Alan Miller, will go head-to-head on April 30.
The Business Council of Alabama (BCA) announced on Tuesday that the board of directors of ProgressPAC, BCA's political-affiliate, had endorsed Jeana Ross in the special election for Alabama House District 27.
Governor Kay Ivey has called a special election for House District 27 to be held on July 16.
Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth hopes to have a say in who takes over his old House seat. On Tuesday, he officially endorsed former Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education Secretary Jeana Ross in the special election for House District 27, which he held from 2014-2018.
