The City of Mobile announced a new partnership with Regions Bank with the naming rights of Mobile’s new arena: Regions Arena.

The construction of the Mobile Arena has reached the halfway point, with the project being on time and on budget. The final steel beam was placed in the arena’s structural framework last week.

The Mobile County Commission approved a measure to help fund the new Mobile arena. The arena project, one of the largest projects in city history, will replace the old civic center.

The Mobile city council will introduce a proposal for the management of the new arena during its regular meeting Tuesday.

As work continues on the demolition of the iconic Mobile Civic Center, extra care is being taken to preserve massive murals on the arena's walls.
