On Wednesday, Gov. Kay Ivey signed into law a recently passed bill that would grant paid parental leave for state employees and public school workers. 

Members of the Alabama Senate unanimously passed legislation on Wednesday giving paid parental leave to state employees and public school teachers. 

The House Ways and Means General Fund Committee advanced legislation on Wednesday that would grant paid parental leave for state and public employees, but not without questions on the fiscal impact of the proposed bill.

Legislation offering paid parental leave for state employees and educators, touted by Gov. Kay Ivey in her State of the State Address earlier this month, was filed Tuesday in both legislative bodies.
