Hoover City Council honors outgoing Mayor Frank Brocato, three councilmen

Monday, October 27, marked the final Hoover City Council meeting for three incumbent councilmen who chose not to seek re-election: Councilman Sam Swiney, Council president pro-tempore Curt Posey and Council president John Lyda. The council also recognized Mayor Frank Brocato, who lost his re-election bid.

Hoover City Councilman Sam Swiney is endorsing Kenneth Cox to replace him on the council in Place 2.

2025 Hoover City Council races set: 3 open seats with Posey, Swiney and Lyda leaving, 2 contested and 2 uncontested

With the qualifying period closed, at least three members of the Hoover City Council will be vacating their seats. Curt Posey, Sam Swiney, and John Lyda chose not to run for reelection.

Hoover Councilman Sam Swiney announces he will not seek reelection

In a written statement, Swiney said, "I have decided not to seek reelection this August. I came to this decision a couple of months ago. It has been an absolute honor representing the people of Hoover over the last 5 years."
