
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said a fake threat led to the lockdown of the Alabama State University campus on Thursday.

A Talladega County man was swatted overnight and his work as a conservative freelance writer is likely what led to the frightening ordeal.

Earlier this week, U.S. Sens. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), Rick Scott (R-Fla.) and Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) introduced the so-called Preserving Safe Communities by Ending Swatting Act, which according to a release from Scott's office would expand the federal criminal hoax statute to "specifically prohibit "swatting" hoaxes through which false information about a crime is reported to law enforcement with the intent of eliciting an emergency response at a target address."
“Swatting” should be a felony in Alabama.

State Rep. Phillip Ensler (D-Montgomery) made an early appearance Tuesday on “Fox & Friends First” to talk about the nearly 200 swatting incidents that took place over the weekend at synagogues across the nation.
