Some residents of Tarrant filed a petition for impeachment of Mayor  Wayman Newton claiming “willful neglect of duty, corruption in office, incompetency, or intemperance in the use of intoxicating liquors or narcotics.” However, Newton said the claims were copied from another city and had nothing to do with Tarrant or his actions as mayor.
